Hi everyone! I'm back from the most fun and relaxing time at Disney World! I did absolutely no art or work and took tons of photos of things to do for my Disney Parks portfolio. On a serious note, I went to an imagineer luncheon and met 2 experienced and wonderful imagineers and made good contacts. They even liked the artwork I presented to them which is truly keeping me going in my journey to apply for interning with WDI in a few years for landscape architecture and design
One of the imagineers actually leads the landscape arch. interns, so just maybe I'll have an advantage in using my contact information and portfolio. One can dream and plan for now!
On another serious note, I was just accepted into Louisiana State University's landscape architecture program for fall 2015! LSU is my 2nd dream school. I just applied and am awaiting response in February for California Polytechnic Institute in Pomona. So, I have a safety school and am most definitely attending a college I really love in either case. For that, I'm grateful! I'm not so grateful about this steadily increasing senioritis though. Ah well.
I'm keeping busy (or way too busy for that matter judging by sleep patterns) in my visual arts classes. I'm creating a vest/tie combo for me and a skirt for a friend out of tea bags in textiles! This is for a major local fashion show that incorporates clothing made out of unusual items. If I work hard enough and create exceptional pieces, I may get a chance to work my pieces on the runway! Fingers and sewing needles crossed! In my graphic arts class, I'm incorporating my "text self-portrait" into a project I'm creating for GLSEN's Day of Silence as I will be helping to organize the national campaign happening around April 17th, 2015 for my student ambassadorship! All that topped off with art for GLSEN's Ally Week, a large textiles piece based on the architecture of LAX airport and a full sized self-portrait for college day at my school. Should be fun and stressful. Both or one of the two at this point. Maybe I'll start a Disney Parks piece when most of the madness is over?
